Not sure if you need to worry about your gut health? Think again. There is a link between gut health and osteoporosis.
A year-long double-blind randomised study has been published out of Sweden, looking at the link between osteoporosis and probiotics. Utilising a specific strain of probiotic daily for a year, it was found that there was a 50% decrease in bone loss compared to the placebo group. The age group studied had an average age of 76 years, however you need to remember that use of some medications (eg corticosteroids) have the known side effect of osteoporosis at a much younger age.
Could it really be that looking after your gut health has far wider implications than just your digestive health? Yes.
