Do B-vitamins really help with stress?

Well, yes. Several of the B-vitamins have a direct impact on the nervous system which can really suffer when you get stressed. Chronic stress has been shown to greatly impact levels of certain B-vitamins (such as B3, B6 and B12), affecting your mood, energy, adrenal function and immune system.

Should I pick an individual B-vitamin, or get a B-complex off the shelf?

Well I am going to say here, first and foremost – get your B-vitamins from FOOD!! You need to be careful about supplementing (some supplements work, others are much less effective). Grabbing a supplement could be just a waste of money if you don’t know what you should look for.

Food sources: meats, nuts (almonds, walnuts, hazelnuts), seeds (sunflower, chia), legumes (chickpeas, lentils), broccoli, eggs, cheese, bananas, avocados, fish, potatoes, sweet potatoes.
