No – what this should read is “Low carb, HEALTHY fats”.
This can be a really confusing way of eating for many people – getting the wrong idea about how it works. But done right, it can be great for health for many people. AND can help many people lose weight.
What you need to know is that the healthy fat referred to in this way of eating is unprocessed natural fats – saturated and monounsaturated fats (yep – saturated!).
Foods such as eggs, meat, chicken, fish, cheese, olive oil, coconut oil, avocado, butter, seeds and nuts all fit into the category of healthy fats.
Hotdogs, chips, vegetable oil, pizza, margarine, biscuits, pastries – these are all in the category of unhealthy fats and often contain man-made trans fats (one of the worst kinds – linked to increased risk of heart disease, diabetes, arthritis, increased inflammation). Trans fats and heavy carbohydrate diets (the typical western diet) lead to inflammation and are linked to the health problems listed above, plus others.
