Garlic and diabetes

Controlling blood sugar levels are often a major problem for diabetics.  The ramifications of constantly high blood sugar has a major impact on many parts of the body, as it can lead to organ damage (including the heart), affect vision, affect brain function and damage blood vessels. 

Simply adding garlic to the diet can have a major impact on the health of diabetics – or anyone that has issues with blood sugar level control or inflammation.

The compounds in garlic can actively reduce inflammation in the body, lower the stickiness of blood, boost your immune system – and lower your fasting blood glucose levels. 

Always check about medication interactions if you plan to have garlic in a pill form, but as a food, this stinky little gem may be a really beneficial addition to your diet – just go easy.  Your loved ones will also thank you for moderation.
